One Musa Keita Thursday appeared before Magistrate K.B Sambou of BrikamaMagistrates’ Court for threatening to kill hisown mother.
Couple 4443 I. Sowe announced her appearance for the Inspector General of Police while the accused person wasn’t represented.
The accused faced a charge of ’threatening violence’ contrary to section 84 of the criminal code cap 10:01 volume III Laws of The Gambia, 2009.
The charge sheet stated that the accused person threatened to kill one Fatou Drammeh (mother of the accused person) at Lamin Medina, West Coast Region of the Republic of The Gambia on the 23rd January 2024. However, the accused (Musa Keita) pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecution applied to have the matter adjourned so that it can secure the presence of the first witness in the case.
Couple I. Sowe didn’t object to the bail as she claimed the charge against the accused person is bailable.
Magistrate K.B Sambou accordingly granted the bail application made by the prosecution. The court set a bail bond of D20, 000.00 and a Gambian surety who would deposit a valid Gambian national identity card to the court’s registrar.
The matter was then adjourned to Thursday 14th February 2024 for hearing of PW1’s testimony.
