Essa Faal’s West Coast Youth Mobilizer, Abdoulie Ndow, is in conflict with the law over allegations of obtaining D2, 522,000 through false pretenses.

Ndow was on Wednesday at the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court to open his defense.

In 2021, he was charged with the alleged offense of obtaining the money from a certain Aminata Faye on the pretext that he was a businessman, who dealt in building materials.

Testifying before Magistrate Mben Faal on Wednesday, Ndow explained that the Sweden-based Aminata Faye had promised to fund Essa Faal’s campaign for the 2021 general elections.

According to Ndow, Aminate Faye tried to entice him into marriage. He explained that Aminata had informed him that she was divorced with two children.

Essa Faal’s West Coast regional mobilizer told the court that sometime in 2021, he drove Aminata and two of Faal’s sympathizers to a restaurant in Majai, where they ate food.

Ndow said he was told by Aminata that she was taken to Sweden by her ex-husband and that they were married for 30 years. Aminata, he went on, informed him that she was without a job in Sweden and had to live in her aunt’s compound anytime she visited The Gambia as she was building a house.

At this juncture, prosecutor Supt. Amadou Keita applied for an adjournment for the continuation of the accused’s defense.
