Minister Bouy: PSs should explore better ways of serving the public

The Minister of Public Service, Administrative Reforms, Policy Coordination and Delivery has enjoined Permanent Secretaries (PSs) to explore better ways of serving the public who are their customers.

Hon Baboucar Bouy made this remark on Monday at Sir DawdaKairaba Jawara Conference Center, Bijilo during his welcoming speech at the 2nd Quarter of the Permanent Secretaries’ Retreat.

According to Minister Bouy, before the 2nd Quarter Permanent Secretaries’ gathering, they met approximately three months ago at the conference center where they discussed salient issues on the operational planning of the Government to take stock of what happened within their various sectors during the first three months of the year.

 The Public Service Minister explained the significance of getting things done in the right way and on time with maximum efficiencies and effectiveness which cannot be over-emphasized because the lives and livelihood of The Gambian people depend on the rate of their success in implementing their planned programs in their various sectors.

He said Gambian’s perceptions of the services they receive matter a lot and thus should be born in their mind during their discussions.

Hon Bouy reminded Permanent Secretaries’ about the first three months of the year conversation which he said focuses on the following: sectoral updates on the achievements, challenges, and lessons learned during their implementation of the National Development Plan (NDP) in RF- 2022, an overview of the RF-NDP whilst taking stock of their strategic plans aligned to the previous NDP, the financial component of government plans and highlighted key areas of opportunities and/or concerns, promote of His Excellency the President’s Development Agenda within RF-NDP and collaboration and shared learning across ministries to avoid duplication of efforts between Ministries.
