Humanity First hands over boreholes project to communities in URR, CRR

Humanity First Gambia, a non-government organization recently handed over boreholes to six communities in the Upper River Region (URR) and Central River Region (CRR)

During the handover ceremony of the boreholes, Kawsu KintehChairman of Humanity First Gambia expressed delight in the timely completion of the project.

He said the main objective of Humanity First is to serve mankind irrespective of religious beliefs, political association, or racial affiliation.

The project, he went on, is to provide safe and clean drinking water to the communities who have little or no access to water. The donation, Chairman Kinteh, said is the second of its kind in 2023 by Humanity First Gambia. Saying in February, Humanity First donated 20 boreholes to communities in WCR, CRR, and URR.

Mr. Kinteh advised the beneficiaries to take ownership of the project as it will require future maintenance. He profoundly thanked the individual donors for what he described as a worthy course and also not forgetting the government for providing the enabling environment.

Presidential Adviser, Honorable Dodou Sannoh, alias Dou whose community Jimara also benefited from the project showed appreciation and gratitude to Humanity First. He said the activities of Humanity First Gambia are not limited to providing clean drinking water but also assisting in areas of health, education, and disaster relief. 

On behalf of the communities and the government, Mr. Sannohthanked Humanity First for the timely handing over of the project and appealed for more support.

The Alkalo of Sare Legay, Nafa Camara, expressed his happiness while stating that the project is the first in the history of the village. A similar sentiment was shared by the Alkalo of Tabajan, Jerro Sowe,

women representative – Jarri Jallow spoke at length about the benefits they would derive from the project. 

She explained that they used to trek for kilometers before they could get water for domestic use and drinking and even for their animals. “We carry 20 liters of a gallon every day to look for water. We are saying to Humanity First that we cannot thank them but only Allah will reward them,” she prayed for the donor. 

The beneficiary villages include Sare Mansali and Changal Lang Kaddy in CRR, Sare Musa, Sare Legay, and Tabajan all in Jimara, URR.
