Women: Brikama United Crowned Champions

Brikama United FC (women), crowned this year’s Women’s domestic second division competition champions after a 1-1draw at home to Trust Academy on Tuesday 25th July 2023 at the Box Bar Mini Stadium in Brikama.

Goalkeeper Isatou Ceesay scored from the penalty spot for the home side to equalize the scoring after the visitors earlier broke the deadlock ten minutes after the start through Arokey Mendy.

Despite a series of efforts from the Brikama Girls, a formidable Trust Academy Girls remained resistant and thus ended the game 1-1 at full time. With the draw, Brikama United accumulated a staggering 47 points at the end of the campaign.

As Champions, Brikama United are now promoted to the First-tier of women’s football and were presented a cheque of D300,000:00 (Three Hundred Thousand Dalasis) with a trophy and medals presided over by GFF Fourth Vice President and Chairperson of Women’s Football Association Ms. SainabouCham.

The occasion was also witnessed by GFF Executive Committee Members Mrs. Arrêt Njie Jah and Maimuna Kanteh. Other dignitaries include Mr. Ebrima Ceesay Vice president of the Women’s Football Association and Mr. Yusupha Ceesay Vice President of the Brikama Sports Committee.
