North Bank West VSGs Commends NaNA, UNICEF

 The cluster communities of Nuimi Lamin, Samba Kala, and Munyagen have commended National Nutrition Agency NaNA and UNICEF for rolling out refresher training for Village Support Groups (VSGs) on the importance of comprehensive health packages and exclusive breastfeeding. 

Commending the two partners during a training held in NuimiLamin, Samba Kala, and Munyagen, Modou Gaye, Community Health Nurse Tutor at Regional Health Directorate in Essau said the training boost morale in term of service delivery and promotes maternal health and nutrition. 

He noted that the support contributed to the reduction of pre-manure delivery while he reiterated the need for closer collaboration and support in strengthening and protecting the health of women and children.

 Essa Keita, Community Health Nurse at Samba Kala circuit described the three days capacity building of Village Support Groups of maternal nutrition, exclusive breastfeeding, hygiene, and sanitation as complementing government efforts to improve the health delivery to the doorstep of all. 

He noted there is a need for prevention of malnutrition among children under five, pregnant women, and lactate mothers in the community by sensitization on community members on eating a good balance diet.

 The VSGs are committed to promoting environmental sanitation and contributing to the prevention of diseases. 

Mai Sanyang, Village Health Worker at Jokadou Karantaba, commended NaNA, the Ministry of Health, and UNICEF for promoting maternal health and exclusive breastfeeding, calling on parents to develop positive attitudes to protect and sustain the health of women and children.
