Residents of Bundung have called on the Government to support them with preferable solutions to the holes dug around in the name of road construction on the highway.

Reaching out to The Voice newspaper, Ebrima Sanneh said, “If I have the power I will look for ways to cover the holes because it is not safe for the kids and they can fall into the hole. Their parents will face the challenges.”

He said the rainy season is fast approaching so it is not safe for them especially people leaving along the road.

He stressed that they are facing a lot of difficulties in the area because if the water doesn’t have a way to flow it will make a way to enter people’s compounds which is going to be dangerous for the people and anything can happen.

Sanneh explained that looking at the situation the residents are sure that the government is not feeling concerned about it or care about its citizens’ problem as this is prolonging for over six months.

“This road is supposed to be finished since to avoid children falling into the holes and flooding in the areas. I urged the Government to immediately address this situation before the rainy season.”

On a similar note, Mama Jarju also said the open gutters on the highway are not safe, and it is scary that when it rains, the water covers the hole, saying “We have seen last year how the rain affected the people and now with these open gutters I am worried.

“They have to hurry up and do the needful flooding is becoming a major concern to the people and is high time for the government to come and assist the people. Road development is important as we all know but also you have to look at the negative side which is the issue of the gutter that has become the nightmare of everyone leaving in this area,” she added

However, she appealed to the government to come to their aid and address the critical issues which are about the lives of the people, noting they have the right to say what is affecting them even though it is a development but the gutters are not safe for the children since they cannot lock the children in the house.
