The GFF Banjul Regional inter-schools football tournament has reached its climax in the Upper Basic School category with St Augustine’s and St Joseph’s to go head to head in both boys and girls finals.
Yamundaw Mbye’s lone goal was enough for St Augustine’s to beat Garba Jahumpa 1-0 to book a place in the girls’ final. Meanwhile, St Joseph’s beat J.C Faye 3-1 on post-match penalty shootouts following a goalless draw in regulation time to book a date with St Joseph’s in the final slated for Thursday 16th March 2023.
Elsewhere, St Joseph’s boys hammered J.C Faye 4-0 in the semifinal match played in the Banjul Mini Stadium. Modou Jobe scored a brace while Abdou Sarr and Abdou Kargbo each scored a goal. Meanwhile, St Augustine’s made sure it’s a double final for them with a 1-0 semifinal win over Garba Jahumpa.
Both finals are slated for Thursday, 16th March 2023, in the Banjul Mini Stadium, starting at 11 am. Source GFF
