Considering the government program this year, Ebrima Tabora Manneh, the leader of the People Alliance Party (PAP) has touted 2023 to be a critical year for Gambians.
In an interview with this medium on Monday, the PAP leader said he has not seen any meaningful program by the government that will help to address the issues that Gambians are facing. “That is why I believe that this 2023 will be a very critical year for the Gambians.
“I am blaming the government for all the abnormalities that Gambians are facing, if the government cannot empower its citizens by bringing development to their doorsteps, then they have no reason to be in government.”
He said the government should consider the average Gambians especially those who are unfortunate to afford their necessities, “Gambians are struggling they are in pain.”
However, he lamented the last farming season saying it was really poor because lots of farmers said fertilizer is unaffordable by the average Gambians which has some impact on the harvest.
Meanwhile, Mr. Ebrima Tabora Manneh pointed out that the Gambia`s economy and businesses are mostly controlled by non-Gambians who will be less sympathetic to the needs and problems of the average Gambians.
“In the end, the government will blame the people for being lazy and it will encourage criminality. When people have nothing to eat they will resort to unethical things,” he stressed.
He argued that the government is not creating jobs for the youth and that can force them into illegal activities saying it is because of that there is a lot of stress, anger, and even political division.
“The Government under the leadership of President Adama Barrow is out of control. So, we have to bring discipline into the civil sector, and we have to bring discipline to the government level for people to see the seriousness in the government,” he expressed his mind.
