The President’s International Award (PIA) on Saturday held a cleaning exercise at its premises in Bakau as part of an effort to ensure a clean and healthy environment.

During the cleaning exercise, Pa Malick Ceesay, the Executive Director Of President International Award Scheme said the initiative is part of the institution’s effort to ensure a healthy and conducive environment for its staff and encourage the young people to take the exercise seriously.

He said cleansing exercises are important because a healthy nation is a development of the country, adding that without health, nothing can be successful in life. He therefore urged all the youths in the country to take responsibility for development of the country

Musa E. Jobe, Programme Manager highlighted the importance of bringing back ‘setal-setal’  which he said will ensure communities are clean and avoid the problems of waste management.

“PIA teaches you many things in developing your lifestyle. Our young people are physically fit to challenge national development and it’s a responsibility of everyone and no one should be left behind,” he noted.
