Sierra Leonean national arraigned

A Sierra Leonean national was recently arraigned before Magistrate E.J. Colley of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court on a charge of   assault causing grievous bodily harm contrary to section 214 of the Criminal Code.

Prosecutors alleged that Muhammad F. Camara on or about the 16th of December, 2022, at Kololi, unlawfully assaulted one Bakawsu Keita by hitting him with a wooden stick on his head, causing him grievous bodily harm.

PW1 Ebrima Baldeh in his testimony told the court that the accused, Muhammed F. Camara, threw a stick at the victim.

He explained: “The victim   fainted and got serious injuries on his face and his head. So, when he was taken to the hospital, a scan was done and the doctor said the blood got inside his brain.”

He further testified that the victim’s condition worsened and he was later taken to Senegal, adding that the victim is currently in France for treatment.

The case was adjourned to the 31st of January 2023 for hearing and cross examination.
