Hon. Bakary K. Badgie, the National Assembly Representative for Foni Bintang Karanai has blasted the government for being muted over the recent Foni issue.

Speaking to The Voice recently Hon. Badgie said what is more surprising is the government’s inaction on the issue and the President showing no concern about the incident and the minister’s reluctance to visit the place as well as the CDS.

“Although we have seen the soldiers, the concern is that the central government should also be there and the president should also realise that we the people of Foni deserve the peace that all the Gambian people are enjoying,” Hon Badgie stressed.

He explained that the MFDC rebels are the ones fighting with the Senegalese forces at the border of the war-torn region of Cassamance, threatening the lives of people around the borders.

“Most of the people have evacuated and Monday there was a school in janac, and today also no school that is the situation down there,” he said.

According to him, he patrolled within the borderline and met up with Gambian Soldiers who gathered some cells found on the Gambian soil as a result of the conflict.

“Most of the bullets were also found in border villages like Gifango which seriously affected and terrified the people in the area,” he revealed.
