By Nicolas Bass

Police prosecutors at the office of the Inspector General of Police have filed fresh charges of treason and concealment of treason against two civilians and a policeman for their alleged participation in the alleged coup plot against the democratically elected government of President Adama Barrow.

The bill of indictment filed by the police investigators before Principal Magistrate Muhammed Krubally of Banjul alleged that Mustapha Jabbi and Fabakary Jawara both civilians and Saikou Gassama a police officer were alleged of participating in overthrowing a democratically elected government of President Adama Barrow.

Investigators alleged that the accused persons between the months of October and December last year within Banjul and diverse places were informed by Lance Corporal Sanna Fadera to topple a democratically elected government of President Adama Barrow, the information they failed to relay to the minister, magistrate, police or a member of the armed forces and they thereby committed an offence.

The accused persons, however, denied any involvement and subsequently they were remanded in custody while the matter was transferred to the high court which has the jurisdiction to hear the case.
