Bakau Crown Champions of GFF Supper Cup ‘Nawettan’

The Crocodile Boys of Bakau, on Monday was crowned the Champions of the Gambia Football Federation (GFF) supper cup ‘Nawettan’ after defeating Serrekunda West by 5 goals to 4 in a penalty shootout following a goalless draw at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium.

 

 Both teams had several chances but could not utilize them.

 

 Speaking with the journalists after the match, Saikou Jawara, the head coach of the Bakau team expressed his joy saying his team has struggled for fourteen years to maintain a disciplined team. 

 

“Discipline is the key to success and without discipline, Bakau won’t have reached the final. We will continue to build a disciplined team that will change our story for a better Bakau in Gambia football”, he assured.

 

 Muhammed Mendy the head coach of Serrekunda West on his part said that it is unpredictable to win a game.

 “My players created chances to score but they failed to score in the game. I was not disappointed,“ he confessed.

 

 Bakau was given D250,000 as a winner, Serrekunda West received D200,000 as runners-up while D100,000 3rd place prize went to Serrekunda East.
