Lawyer Yankuba Darboe, the newly selected Opposition United Democratic candidate for Brikama Area Council (BAC) has promised to restructure and end the corruption that has undermined the development of BAC.

Speaking to The Voice a few days after his nomination by the party Mr. Darboe said “I would end corruption at Brikama Area Council (BAC) and usher in a new era of investment by the council to deliver quality services to the public.”

According to Mr.  Darboe, the reason why he contested for the UDP ticket is to provide the people of the West Coast with competent, transparent, and honourable leadership that will serve the best interest of the region by providing better public services to the people of the region.

He said: “This will replace an era of inefficiency, incompetency, corruption, and infidelity endured under the current Chairman of the Council, Sheriffo Sonko, who had failed to deliver any meaningful service to the people of the region.”

The UK-based trained lawyer Mr. Darboe added that the region is desperately in need of infrastructural development which includes the deplorable road networks and recreational centre among a host of fundamental human needs.

“We have huge challenges in the region, but with our young and dynamic leadership we can overcome most of these challenges for our region and turn the region into a beacon of hope for Gambian Renaissance,” Darboe promised, while also highlighting his five-point agenda which bordered on corruption among others.
