Coach Jatta expresses happiness guiding Nema Youth to Sukuta Super Cup triumph

Amadou Jatta, head coach, Nema Youths FC expressed happiness for winning the Sukuta Nawettan curtain raiser for Nema Youth FC, while thanking the people of Nema Youths for having the trust and confidence in him.

Nema Youth FC were on Saturday crowned champions of the Sukuta Super Cup (Curtain Raiser) final after defeating Blackpool 11-10 in a marathon post-match penalty shootout following a goalless draw in the regulation time.

The Super Cup final which was graced by the Minister of Information, Lamin Queen Jammeh; deputy speaker of the National Assembly Hon. Seedy Njie; deputy governor of West Coast Region and the leader of Team Restore Confidence, Sadibou Kamaso amongst others was played at the Sukuta Demba-Du Mini-Stadium.

“This is a very important success for us because there hasn’t been any nawettan football for over two years but we prepared for the tournament since last year. We sent our players to some zones to go and play the “Norran” football to keep their fitness,” Coach Jatta further said.

According to him, those moves help them and his players as they were preparing for thee Sukuta nawettan season. He went on praised his players for their performance shown in the final.

“Am very happy for the performance of my boys and for the commencement of the nawettan football in Sukuta after two years of break.”

Karamba Touray, head coach, Blackpool FC, said it was a battle which any team can win, adding that he’s very please with his boys played during the final.

“Am not disappointed for the result. Football is win, lose or draw. We believed that lucky wasn’t on our side. Am very please with the performance of my boys and am not disappointed.”

According to him, they will go to their training ground and prepare themselves better for the nawettan season proper, while expressing happiness for witnessing another nawettan football in Sukuta.

“Sukuta is a footballing community and everyone is please after witnessing another nawettan season in the Sukuta.”

He finally congratulated Blackpool FC for their tremendous victory against them.

As winners, Nema Youths FC were awarded a giant trophy and a cash prize of D15, 000, while the runners-up Blackpool FC were given a consolation prize of D10, 000
