Queen Park Rangers (QPR) United were over the weekend crowned champions of the Tujereng Super Cup (Curtain Raiser) final after defeating Manchester United 2-1 in a game played at the Tujereng Football field.

Lamin Bojang opened the scoring for QPR in the early 54th second of the game, before Modou Njie leveled for Red Devils, Manchester United in the 35th minute of the game.

Sulayman Ndong scored the winning goal for QPR United in the 40th minute of the second half.

As winners, QPR United were awarded a giant trophy and cash prize of D50, 000, while Manchester United were given a consolation prize of D30, 000.

Saikou D. Ndong, Coach of QPR, praised his players for the victory, noting that his formation played a crucial role for his team’s victory.

“My players capitalized on their chances which gave us victory,” noting that “it was challenging for me, because it was my first time to coach the team as my predecessor (the former coach) resigned to take up the responsibility in the Tujereng Sports Committee.”

Ousman Marena, Coach of Manchester United, expressed disappointment to the central Referee after denying them a penalty.

He added that most of his key players were absent for the game which as a result, he said, forced him to field an inexperienced player to showcase their talents.
