The newly appointed Governor of the Lower River Region (LRR), Seedy Lamin Bah has aimed at uniting the people of his region to have a common goal and aspiration for the development of the country.

Governor Bah, who was speaking in an exclusive interview with The Voice, disclosed his intentions for LRR, which include bringing together the people of Lower River Region to speak in one voice and also support the development agendas of the Barrow-led administration.

“Nothing can be achieved in the absence of peace and unity. In LRR we are all related but with different views. We are just from an election and people have divergent views. So, in order to consolidate the gains, it is better we all have one common goal,” he divulged.

According to him, unity is the only thing that can help in consolidating their gains.

“It is going to be a challenge to bring together a total of six districts in both Kiang and Jarra, to have a common goal. But I’m determined and the beauty about the whole thing is that I am also from LRR in Kiang.”

Mr. Bah, now former General Manager of Gamgate Consortium said after uniting the people of LRR, he intends to work on other areas in the region such as peace and progress, curb crimes, and to make sure youth are engaged into productive sectors where they will have skills.

Also, he aims to bridge the gap for the women in the region so that they can be supported and encouraged through Small and Medium Enterprises (SME’s) as well as the elderly.

He added that all of these cannot be achieved in the absence of peace and unity.

Governor Bah went on to thank President Adama Barrow for selecting him out of the many Gambians to serve his country through national duty

“I feel very humble and appreciate the opportunity. I also want to use this opportunity to thank the Gambian leader for the trust bestowed on me,” he said, while expressing hope and confidence to executive his functions to the best of his ability in serving the people of the Lower River Region.
