Arson Attack Case of Sherige Ndigal Followers Transfers to High Court

Magistrate Sainabou Sambou has referred the case of two Sheringe Ndigal followers to the High Court in Banjul following their appearance before her at the Kaur Magistrate Court on Tuesday 21st June 2022.

Presiding over the matter, Magistrate Sainabou Sambou remanded the accused Babucarr Secka and Yunusa Ceesay for further notice, before referring the matter to the High Court in Banjul for lacking the jurisdiction to handle the matter at the magistrate’s court in Kaur.

In the same vein, two other followers Sagarr Ceesay and Abdou Ceesay were granted bail by Magistrate Sambou.

It could be recalled that on Sunday, May 15th, followers of Sheringe Ndigal who are currently residing at Kerr Mot Ali, in Senegal were said to have burnt down houses at the opposite side of the border, Kerr Mot Ali, Gambia belonging to the village Alkalo and the Imam.

The incident led to the reinforcement of security officers at the area and also led to the arrest of fourteen Gambians and one Senegalese.
