Red Scorpions extends lead in GFF Women’s League Division One

Red Scorpions extended their lead at the top of the Women’s League Division One standings to 4 points following their comfortable 4-0 thrashing of Police FC in a derby encounter played at the Independence Stadium in Balau on Saturday.

A brace from Fatoumata P. Jammeh and one each from Ola Buwaro and Kumba Kuyateh were enough to open the gap between the Jeshwang based outfit and their closest challengers with three matches remaining before the end of the season.

Red Scorpions have now recorded their ninth victory of the league, more than any team, while The Gambia Police Force suffered their second defeat of the league.

The victory extended Red Scorpions lead at top of the standings to four points on 29 points, while The Gambia Police Force maintained 2nd position with 25 points.

Elsewhere, City Girls moved to third place after a 2-1 win over Abuko United during a game played at the Live Your Dreams Academy Football Field in Basori on Saturday.

City Girls now registered their fourth win of the league, while Abuko United suffered their sixth loss of the season.

The result moved City Girls to 3rd position with 17 points, while Abuko United dropped to 6th position with 9 points.

Berewuleng won Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) 3-0 during the earlier game played at Basori on Sunday.

The Brikama-based team side, Berewuleng now recorded their fifth win of the league, while GAF suffered their sixth defeat of the season.

The victory now regained Berewuleng at 3 position with 18 points, while the defeat dropped GAF to 5 position with 13 points.

Brikama United defeated Immigration during the late battle for survival encounter played at Basori, on Sunday.

The Sateba girls, Brikama United now recorded their second win of the league, while Immigration suffered their eighth loss of the league.

The victory maintained Brikama United at second from bottom (7th) position with 8 points, while Immigration sat at the rock bottom (8th) position with 3 points.
