Coach Alieu Jagne happy to bounce after consecutive defeats for Hawks

Alieu Jagne, head coach of Hawks FC expressed delight to bounce back from a back-to-back defeat and get back to winning ways after defeating Falcons FC 2-0 during their week-24 fixture played at the Independence Stadium in Bakau on Sunday.

Team Captain Omar Sarr opened the scoring for the Banjul-based team Hawks in the first minute of the game before substitute Abdou Jatta sealed the victory with a brilliant finish in the 55 minute of the second half to send Hawks Fc to winning ways.

“This win is very important for us after losing back to back games from the league and FF Cup. This time around we won and the victory will help to build another confidence for our subsequent games,” he said during an interview after the game.

He added that it doesn’t matter losing some of his key players at the start of the second round, saying that “because we prepared everybody to play and everyone is doing very well.”

“We went back to the training ground and did what we were supposed to do and rectified ourselves to come with this result.”

According to Coach Alieu Jagne, who guided Hawks FC to 14 wins, 3 draws and 6 defeats after 23 games, said the victory will help them to gain another strength ahead of their next games.

Lamin Sanneh, head coach of Falcons FC said that they lost matches sometimes due to the attitude (mistakes) of young players.

Coach Lamin Sanneh who guided Falcons FC to 6 wins, 7 draws and 9 losses after 23 matches added that despite the mistakes from his players, he and technical staff will never relent in their efforts to make sure things go in the right way.

According to him, it is never easy taking defeat but added that they learn from our defeats that they take so far.

The win extended Hawks FC at the top of the table with 45 points, four points above Real de Banjul who was playing against Samger FC yesterday at the time of going to press, while Falcons FC occupied 12th position with 25 points.

Elsewhere, Waa Banjul defeated Gamtel FC 1-0 during a game played at the Late Ousman Saho Field in Old Yundum.

Pa Assan Joof scored the only goal of the match for Waa Banjul in the early 4 minute of the game.

The Banjul-based team, Waa Banjul now collected their seventh victory of the season, while the Telecom Giants, Gamtel FC suffered their ninth loss of the league.

The win moved Waa Banjul to 4th position with 33 points, while the defeat dropped Gamtel FC to 7th position with 30 points, leveling with GAF, Banjul United and Wallidan respectively.

Wallidan beat The Gambia Ports Authority (GPA) 1-0 during the late Banjul-derby encounter at the stadium yesterday.

The Blue Boys, Wallidan scored their only goal in the game in the 53 minute of the second period to give them their seventh win of the season.

The defeat now made it eleventh loss for the Ferry Boys, Gambia Ports Authority.

The result moved Wallidan FC to 10th position with 30 points, leveling with Banjul United, GAF and Gamtel FC respectively, while GPA sit 15th position with 24 points, leveling with Samger and Team Rhino.
