APRC deputy spokesman has been ordered to retract and refrain from making comments about APRC bid for Kanifing Municipal Council’s Mayoral position in 2023.

MrJah told Star FM that APRC needs KMC and added that the party may put up a candidate for the council’s top job in the upcoming council and local government elections scheduled for 2023.

However, Pa Njie Girigara described Mr Jah’s comments as improper which can undermine the coalition between ruling National People’s Party and APRC.

“I believe if  Dodou  Jah wants our relationship to continue in harmony, anytime they ask him about KMC, let him say talking about that has not come yet, but you would not be advancing saying ‘because we are popular.’ I just want him to remember that they (APRC) lost the mayoral election in KMC in 2018. Should they powerful than us, NPP, should not have lost the National Assembly elections in KMC. Because Dodou Jah believes they have large followership in KMC and if they really had campaign for us, we would not have loss a seat in KMC. Yes, APRC is a big party,” Mr. Njie argued and confirmed.

The business tycoon added: “We all know that APRC has help our President Barrow’s re-election, it is the fact, but the just concluded National Assembly election, I believe what Dodou Jah said places a cast in my mind that this means that where NPP put up its MP candidates APRC and Dodou Jah didn’t campaign for us. Yes, they have won their two seats but they lost the entire Foni. We put all that behind us in the spirit of continuality.”

“And Dodou Jah’s declaration is bringing confusion between the NPP-APRC coalition, and we believe if what Dodou Jah is saying is not an official statement of APRC, we are asking him to go back to the media and say we have not decided on putting up a candidate. I believe that APRC has all rights to distance themselves from what Dodou Jah is saying in the media so that people can know this is the stand of the APRC executive. But if that doesn’t happen, why is Dodou Jah almost every day go to the media platforms, if he continue to say such things, it will bring more confusion between our relationship.

“Therefore, I am urging APRC particularly Dodou Jah to restrain because we NPP have decided that we will put up candidates in KMC and Banjul, but the time is yet to come,” he lamented.
