DLEAG operatives launch manhunt for drug trafficker

Operatives of Drug Law Enforcement Agency stationed at Sibanor have launched a manhunt for suspected drug trafficker barely two days after the parliamentary election.

According to the agency, it has intercepted the barrels of cannabis from the fleeing trafficker who is suspected of trafficking the drugs from southern Senegalese region.

Ousman Saidybah, the public relations officer for the Drug Law Enforcement Agency said: “manhunt has been launched and further investigations into the matter continued,” adding as part effort in total control over the use illicit drugs in the Gambia.

“On the 10 April 2022, around 17:00 hours GMT onwards, a team from Sibanor command conducted a sting operation that resulted in the recovery of twenty-one (21) big bundles of suspected cannabis sativa, wrapped in cement papers, concealed in an empty iron barrel and tied to a platelets motorcycle. The person of interest in the matter evaded arrest and he is currently at large,” he added.

According to him, the Drug Law Enforcement Agency Gambia Sibanor field office complementing the effort as an institution of anti-drugs agent has intercepted an illicit drug trafficker at the outskirts of Batendeh village in the West Coast Region.
