Batchilly Calls for Arrest of Falang Sonko

Musa Ousainou Yali Batchilly, leader of Gambia Action Party, has called for the arrest of United Democratic Party’s KMC regional chairman for his planned protest.

Falang Sonko said in an audio: “Their fraud has been uncovered IEC officials whom you know are paid from taxpayer’s money. They betrayed Allah, they betrayed the Prophet, they betrayed The Gambia and all good Gambians and they fraudulently put Adama Barrow in office, something Gambians do not want. Gambians did not vote for him.

“They registered foreigners and these are the people who voted for Adama Barrow. But by the grace of God, Allah will pass judgment between us and them in this world and the hereafter. But we will also take a step and fight to the end.

However, Batchilly told Star FM: “I listened to Falang Sonko’s audio and number one he is a Muslim but he insulted the entire Gambia in his audio. He disrespected the whole Gambia and he disrespected the political parties and their leaders who joined the National People’s Party and insulted and insulted the Gambians’ verdict.”

“What Falang Sonko said is incitement and he should be arrested. And Baa Ousainou as a political leader should call Falang and address him about this audio because this election victory was the Gambians verdict. Thus, he insulted the entire Gambia,” he added.

He continued: “And Falang Sonko I respect you so much and you said: you give (urge) the IEC chairman to resign. Who are you to ask the IEC chairman to resign?”

Meanwhile, he said: “Baa Ousainou you are now old and is God who destined leadership on man and you about 86 years now please kindly resign and be a Statesman. You betrayed Barrow, you know me, I am not afraid of anything. Barrow when you won the election in 2016 you found Ousainou in jail and you freed him and you gave him the position of Foreign Minister and Vice President.”

The Gambia Supreme Islamic Council (GSIC) has through its president advised Muslims to remain unified, enhance social harmonisation and Islamic cohesion in the country. This comes at a time when the country is braced up for the 2022 National Assembly elections, with the nomination process already in progress
