Samger collects first GFF 1st Division League win, Elite Utd continues struggle

Newly promoted side Samger FC have collected their first win of the season after defeating Elite United 3-0 in their rescheduled week-six fixture of the Gambia Football Federation (GFF) 1st Division League played at the Independence Stadium in Bakau on Wednesday.

The Academy boys, Samger scored their goals in the 15th, 70th and 75th minutes respectively to earn them a famous win over Elite United.

Elite United completed the game with 10-men after having one of their players sent off by the referee in the 34th minute of the first half.

Samger FC have now collected one win, two draws and three defeats in six games, while struggling Elite United registered one win, zero draw and five defeats in six games.

Elite United who are performing poorly and also struggling in the league after losing some of their key players this season, also led to the sacking of their coach Majorr Saine recently.

The victory moved Samger FC out of the relegation zone to 11th position with 5 points, leveling with Team Rhino and Steve Biko (with the latter playing less game), while Elite United dropped to the relegation zone in 16th position with 3 points, leveling with Marimoo FC.
