Gov’t releases D27.5M as Scorpions progresses

The Gambia government has released additional D27, 500.000 to cover the budget deficit of Gambia’s participation in the ongoing African Cup of Nation tournament in Cameroon, the Minisry of Youth and Sports announced on Thursday.

The amount was disbursed by the Ministry of Finance to enable the National Coordinating Committee (NCC) for the Afcon to cover the expenses related to qualification and match bonuses for the players and technicians, accommodation and feedings, among others for officials, fans, and journalists who are part of the Gambian delegation in Cameroon.

“The Ministry of Youth and Sports wishes to extend appreciation to the Honorable Minister and leadership of the Finance Ministry and the entire government for the continued support.”
