Red Scorpions registers back-to-back wins in GFF Women’s League

Red Scorpions FC has continued their fine form after collecting a back-to-back victory in the ongoing Gambia Football Federation (GFF) Women’s 1st Division League week-2 fixtures played over the weekend.

The Jeshwang-based team defeated Immigration FC 4-1 in their second game of the Women’s league played at Live Your Dreams Football Complex in Basori on Saturday.

Immigration FC took the lead in the 2nd minute of the game, before Red Scorpions started their goal scoring festival with Ola Buwaro scoring a brace in the 11th and 61th minutes.

Mam Lisa Mendy scored in the 46 minute and Kaddy Badjie also scored for Red Scorpions in the 51 minute.

Chorro Mbenga and her charges now won two of their league matches, while the Immigration side suffered their first defeat after drawing their opening game.

The victory moved Red Scorpions top of the league standings with 6 points, while Immigration occupied 6th position with 1 point after two games.

The Gambia Police Force (GPF) thrashed Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) 5-0 in an all security-derby encounter played at Basori on Friday.

Mami Sey opened the scoring in the 25th minute of the first half, before Catherine Jatta doubled the lead in the 55th minute of the second half.

Mbassey Darboe scored the Police’s third goal in the 63rd minute while Fatou Sonko made it a comfortable victory with her brace in the 77th and 90th minutes respectively.

The defending champions, GPF bounced back from their opening game setback to record their first win of the league, while GAF continued with their slow start in the league after drawing their opening game.

The triumph jumped the Police female side to 2nd position with 4 points, while female Soldiers sit in second-from-bottom-(7th)-position with just 1 point after two games.

Abuko United were held to a draw goalless by City Girls in the late match played at Basori on Saturday.

Both teams Abuko United and City Girls are now forced to their second draws of the league after drawing their opening matches of the league.

The result left both teams level on 2 points, with City Girls leading on goal-difference on 4th while Abuko United sit 5th position.

Berewuleng defeated Brikama United 1-0 in the final game played at Basori on Sunday.

Teddy S. Jatta scored the only goal in the game for the Brikama-based team, who are making their first appearance in the Women’s First Division League

The newly promoted side, Berewuleng are making a fine start to life in their maiden Women’s 1st Division League, forced the defending champions to 1-1 draw in their opening game last week.

Brikama United who narrowly escaped relegation last season seems to continue with their struggling in the new season after losing their both opening fixtures so far.

The result moved Berewuleng to third position with 4 points, leveling with Gambia Police Force, while Brikama United sat at the rock-bottom-(8th)-position with zero points after two matches.
