Changai Toro village to hold cultural festival on Saturday

Changai Toro village in Sami District, Central River Region north (CRR) through its community-based organization called “Kawral Eh Golleh” would hold its 4th edition of annual cultural festival on Saturday, 29th January 2022.

“Kawral Eh Golleh” meaning Unity and work is a community-based organization aims to restore Gambia’s cultural heritage, reinforce the unity among residents of Changai Toro village as well promote peace development in the village.

Various stakeholders such as traditional leaders, government officials, politicians, development partners, artists and youth leaders are expected to grace the historical event.

The festival would be characterized by cultural performance such as traditional marriage, conference and cultural music that would be concerted by Fulani artists.

According to Musa Jallow President of Kawral Eh Golleh in a statement dispatched to The Voice newspaper said the annual event aims to reviving the Fulani cultural heritage, maintain good traditional practices in the community, and reinforce the unity among residents.

He added that the event also meant to contribute to national development through attraction of tourists in the country and in the rural area in particular.

“We would also organize a conference to discuss maintenance of peace and social cohesion in the society,” he said.

However, Jallow called on all and sundry to support the community-based organization and people of Changai Toro village to ensure smooth implementation of the historic event.

He further invites all to witness the event. This, he said would contribute immensely to the development of the village, region and the country as a whole.
