GRA Boss Commends Gambian Writer

Yankuba Darboe, the Commissioner General of Gambia Revenue Authority (GRA), has commended Gambian writer, Modou Lamin Age- Almusaf Sowe for dedicating his new launched book tittle: Don’t Judge the Book by the Cover to the Gambia Revenue Authority.

CG Darboe who was the chief guest of honoured expressed total appreciation with the authored for the recognition of the efforts of GRA in revenue generation

He challenged the young people to adopt the culture of reading, innovation and creativity and respect for time that will greatly help them in improving their development carriers while pledged to buy two hundred copies, meant for his former school, Gambia Senior Secondary School and GRA.

In his keynote address, he stressed on the significant of the occasion while noted that the book has been dedicated to the Gambia Revenue Authority in recognition of the pivotal role GRA plays in mobilizing the needed revenue for the national development.

However, he said  “this is important because it would give us the opportunity to appreciate why the author ventured into writing a book on literacy and reading and why I personally believe that there could not have a more qualified person to write such an award-winning book,” he said.

He thanked the author for his vision and efforts to document what he considered a very comprehensive account of the operations of the apex regulatory weakness of the Gambian literacy society, particularly an important development as the book will surely fill the current gap in the public understanding of the role of parents in contributing to the literacy market in the Gambian economy.

“As the African writers continue to grow as a major provider of investible funds for national recognition, the need for public enlightenment on the value of books becomes very important, and this momentum must be continued,” he said.
