Soldier, others arrested with suspected drugs

The Drug Law Enforcement officers have arrested several suspected drug traffickers including a soldier who are now detained pending an investigation.

DLEAG said their Basse officers arrested a soldier identified as Corporal Abdou Sanyang for allegedly being in possession of a prohibited drug contrary to the provisions of the Drug Control Act (DCA) 2003.

Also, DLEAG said Foday Edrissa Camara, Sierra Leonean national who is a teacher was arrested with a bundle of suspected Cannabis sativa at Basse Kaba Kama on the 13th December 2021 around 06:35AM onwards and they are currently under custody as investigation continues.

Meanwhile, in West Coast Region, the narcotic officers in Farato nabbed one Bakary Samba an adult male Gambian and a resident of New Yundum with twenty-four (24) bundles of suspected cannabis sativa.

“Samba was arrested on the 10th December 2021 around 15:30 hours GMT onwards at Farato, the said cannabis was wrapped with cement papers, covered with blue nylon bags and concealed in a Ghana must go-bag. The means for conveyance was a motorcycle with registration number MC WCR 1744,” DLEAG said.

“In Central River Region, Drug scouts in Kaur apprehended one Alagie Ceesay, an adult male Gambian on the 10th December 2021 around 21:50 GMT onwards. He was arrested at Nyakoi village with three (3) parcels and one (1) wrap suspected cannabis sativa. DLEAG Barra field force on the other hand arrested one Omar Ndure with twenty (20) parcels and eight (8) wrapped of suspected cannabis sativa and Omar was apprehended on the 10th December 2021 around 17:22 GMT onwards,” DLEAG added.

Operatives of the DLEAG, stationed at Jarra Soma Lower River Region arrested two minor Senegalese at Yelli Tenda check point suspected of trafficking illicit drugs on Tuesday 7th December 2021. Samba Ngum a 17-year-old native of Dakar was in possession of a dark blue colored travelling bag which was searched and found containing five (5) big bundles of suspected cannabis, while Modou Lamin Touray also age 17 and native of Grand Jourbel (Senegal) was also in possession of a black bag containing a one (1) big bundle of suspected cannabis wrapped in a brown paper.

“Both the allege child offenders (ACO`s) were coming from Binjona village in Cassamance and heading to Dakar Senegal. Both the allege offenders were taken to the DLEAG gender and child welfare unit for further investigation,” DLEAG disclosed.
