Police arrest man for allegedly stealing over D500,000 from Trust Bank Airport Branch

Police detectives have arrested a 25-year-old man for allegedly breaking into Trust Bank Airport Branch in Yundum and stole more than half-a-million dalasis.

Police identified the suspect as Wagan Senghore he was “arrested after breaking into Trust Bank Airport Branch Stealing D599,700.”

“Detectives in West Coast Region arrested one Wagan Senghore, 25, employee of Ahmed Trading/Arezki Banjul International Airport after he broke into the Trust Bank Airport Branch on Election Day, 4th December, 2021 stealing a staggering amount closed to D600, 000,” police said.

According to a statement from the police, upon receipt of information about the reported breaking, detectives quickly visited the scene, gathered evidence and swiftly opened investigation into the case.

“Successful analysis of fingerprints and other relevant evidence from the scene of crime led to the identification of the suspect and hence his immediate arrest. Further investigations revealed the suspect stole an amount of D599,700 from the Bank.

“The suspect Wagan Senghore who was arrested at Amdalai with cash amount of D52, 800 later led investigators to his house at Brikama Manduar where he stashed an amount of D489, 600 being stolen from the bank. Through diligent investigations police recovered a total of D558, 200 of the stolen amounts,” the police added.

Police statement continued that the suspect is currently helping police with investigations to recover the balance of the stolen money.
