Journalists trained on coronavirus prevention

The Ministry of Health has trained dozens of journalists drawn from both print and electronic on coronavirus prevention and measure to take in preventing this pandemic during a training held at Baobab Resort Holiday.

Speaking at the training, Momodou Gassama, health specialist from World Health Organization described the disease as deadly and that it has killed millions of people.

“I urge the entire community to be vaccinated  Covid-19 is an enemy to the entire world and we are issuing out ways on how to tackle the situation because is still stubborn and killing people, destructing lives in totality. As we speak now 30 of November the world has clocked over 260 million cases, 5 million have died this is serious meanwhile he said this will be the second year and we still battling with the pandemic,” he said.

“It is never enough to use facemask to protect ourselves and the next person. We still have to observe public and social measure they are critical and pertinent. Let’s be at places where there is enough ventilation not only against coronavirus but also it kills organisms that are harmful noting that social distancing should be taken even though we have new variant disturbing the world,” he added.

“When the risk is high people tend to behave anyhow maybe positively but when the risk is low according to their own perception they can behave differently. Seeing the number of people being vaccinated is not what we expect in a nutshell the up take is low. However, I urge the journalists to keep spreading the messages which is the only way that people can be advised in having trust in the vaccines,” he continued.

Sanjali Trawally, deputy director at Ministry of Health said it “is our task we want convincing messages to be disseminated to the people to create awareness to people about the vaccines. With the social media people are talking a lot and that is not helping Covid-19 it can create confusion and make some people not to believe.”

Bintou Cham, public health officer explained that the vaccines are available but the people hesitancy in taking the vaccines, when the vile is open and only two people are vaccinated the rest will be destroyed and they will dump them.

She therefore urged people to try and be vaccinated because it is the only weapon that can be used to fight against this deadly disease pandemic.
