Justice Zainab Jawara Alammi of the Banjul High Court Thursday, 11th November, 2021 struck out the case between Lamin Jammeh and Mr Sheriff Bojang, the proprietor of The Standard Newspaper as lawyer Lamin L Darboe representing Mr Jammeh applied for the withdrawal of the case from court.

When the case was called before the presiding judge, Lawyer Darboe informed the court that they have reached an amicable solution in the matter. This means Mr Bojang and his newspaper company have agreed to settle Mr Jammeh outside the court. Therefore based on his application Justice Zainab struck out the case.

According to the narration of the statement of the case, Mr Jammeh, in January 2010, Mr Bojang engaged him to setup a limited liability. He said in April of the same year they established Standard International Company and its objectives among other things are to carry on business of newspapers, magazines and books, thereby he said he owns 10% of the shares while Mr Bojang owns 90% of the shares.

More so, Mr Jammed divulged that he was given notice of shares and invitation to a board meeting, but there has never been a board meeting. Mr Jammeh, a resident of Finland, said he nominated someone as proxy to represent him at board meetings but Mr Bojang rejected the nomination saying he was not satisfied with the nominee.

He stated that the first publication of the newspaper was on the 4th August, 2010.

However, Mr Jammeh wanted the High Court to make declaration that Mr Bojang should constitute a board meeting. Also, that the court should make order and instruct Mr Bojang to produce the financial and audit statement of the company from inception to date. He as well wanted the court to make order directing Mr Bojang to pay dividend from the inception of the company to date.

Meanwhile, there is an agreement between Mr Jammeh and Mr Bojang. On this basis, the case has been withdrawn from the court.
