Impeccable source closed to Coalition 2016 Leaders has disclosed to this medium that NPP/APRC merger and Audited Financial Report of Coalition 2016 will be at the center of discussions in their next meeting.

Accordingly, the source revealed to this medium that the next Executive Meeting of the Coalition 2016 will be held on the 10th of October, 2021 to discuss the above mentioned issues.

Dilating on the rationale for the next Coalition 2016, Leaders meeting, the source told The Voice newspaper that key among the issues to be discussed are for the Coalition Leaders to show their disapproval for the merger between the National People’s Party (NPP) of President Adama Barrow and the Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction (APRC) of former President Yahya Jammeh, adding that Coalition 2016, Audited Financial Report will also be presented and discussed.

The source continued that Coalition Leaders have already dispatched letters to all stakeholders regarding the 10th October meeting, adding, though some leaders of the Coalition 2016, have already endorsed the merger between the NPP/APRC while a good percentage of the coalition leaders are totally against merger.

According to him, the meeting is necessitated by the actions of the President whose move to merge his party with the APRC has caught most of the coalition 2016, leaders red-handed, adding that the leaders are ready to denounced the merger publicly for the interest of the Gambian people who has earlier condemned the move of the President.

“We don’t want the Gambian people to be with believing that coalition 2016 leaders endorsed the President Barrow’s party merger with the APRC. Majority of the coalition leaders with the exception of PPP, GPDP and NCP are all against the merger,” the source disclosed.

The source added that “Coalition leaders will also discuss issues relating to the Audited Financial Report that has been gathering dust for close to a year now. There have been a lot of financial misappropriation that are reported in the audit report and it will be important for the sponsors of the coalition 2016 to know where and how their monies have been spent.”

He said anyone found wanting will be exposed and the public will be duly informed of their actions and possible recommendations will be the action leaders will take against those culpable. When contacted to shed light on the issues raised, Fatoumattav Jallow Tambajang, Coordinator of Coalition 2016, and former Vice President of The Gambia confirmed that Coalition 2016, leaders will be meeting on the 10th of October, 2021 on very important matters that will be disclosed to the press only after the meeting.

Madam Jallow Tambajang declined to comment on the Coalition leaders take on the merger between NPP/APRC as well as the coalition 2016, Audited Financial report said to be the center of discussion. The 10th October, 2016, Coalition Leaders meeting will be the first of its kind this year after their endorsement and extension of the mandate of President Adama Barrow from 3 years to 5years.
