Army chief tours military barracks

The Chief of Defence Staff Gambia Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Yankuba A Drammeh has continued his countrywide tour for the year 2021 with a rousing welcome by personnel of the 2 Infantry Battalion in Farafenni.

General Drammeh and his entourage were received by the Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Ebrima Krubally and other Senior Officers of Sister Services in Farafenni. He had an interaction with the Governor North Bank Region before retiring for the day.

Day 2, CDS Drammeh visited the main camp of the 2 Infantry Battalion where he met with notable civilian figures in Farafenni.

They shared sentiments of gratitude for the services provided by personnel of the Infantry Battalion. Several interactions were held and medals were presented by the Battalion to some of the notable figures of the civil society who continue to help them in their course of providing security to them.

The General also visited ongoing projects in the barracks particularly building projects aimed at easing accommodation for troops as it was instructed by him during his 2020 tour. While in the barracks, General Drammeh and delegation embarked on a tree planting exercise. They planted trees within the camps vicinity.

He later went to Kerr Ayub border post where he interacted with sister security services at that border post, visited their facilities and shared some words of encouragement and wisdom with them. He later retired to the 2 Infantry’s Karafi Camp to have a durbar with troops of the battalion.

This will enable him to hear his soldiers and understand some of their problems and see how to chart a way forward in addressing their plight. From there, the CDS and entourage will head to Lamin Koto Military Post where he is expected to meet with troops and community leaders of that area.
