President Barrow takes second dose of Covid-19 AstraZeneca vaccine, urges Gambians to take theirs

After the launching of the National Covid-19 vaccination exercise by President Adama Barrow, which followed by him taken the first dose of the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine at the State House, Banjul on Wednesday, 10th February, the President was again, yesterday, 19th May, 2021 completed his dose by taking the second jab of the Covid-19 vaccine. The President was seeing taking the jab alongside with his ministers.

As the vaccination exercise is in progress, President Adama Barrow urged everyone to go take the vaccine saying it is the only prevention against the virus.

He emphasized that the vaccine can prevent the spread and from people getting it.

Campaigning on the inoculation, President Barrow stated that scientists and doctors have proven that the vaccine is safe and good and this is an opportunity for Gambians and non-Gambians in The Gambia to come out and fight the virus” by taking the covid-19 vaccine.

The Gambia President noted that government cannot do it alone while saying that the ongoing sensitization programs in media should continue.

The vice president of The Gambia, Dr Isatou Touray said it is a great thing that the vaccine is available in the country with lots of sensitization programs been done by the Ministry of Health.

She therefore encouraged everyone to take the vaccine so that the country can be free from the virus.

The Honorable Minister of Health, Dr Lamin Samateh said the vaccine will hopefully help the society as the vaccination against the coronavirus will protect people from infection of the virus.

Dr Samateh said the second jab will help the vaccine to be more effective and the AstraZeneca come in two jabs and it has been tested. He too urged everyone to take the vaccine as the president and ministers have taken it, this shows that the vaccine is safe.
