Former Speaker of the National Assembly, Honorable Fatoumata Jahumpa Ceesay, has donated a drilling machine worth D125,000 to Farato Bojang Kunda to help the community’s women in their domestic work.

“The drilling machine donation will not only stop at Farato Bojang Kunda but it will continue to other parts of the country,” Ms Jahumpa Ceesay said as she addressed a gathering at the community over the weekend.

She called on women to use the machine judiciously and encouraged them to continue working hard.

“Women deserve modern machines to help them do their domestic works as APRC is grateful to the women for their support and they cannot pay them,” she said.

Meanwhile, Honorable Yankuba Colley, former Mayor of Kanifing said the machine will help all the women in the community and therefore called on to embrace unity and work hard, adding that: “women play a significant role in this country and helping them is a great job.”

Fatou Jallow, Councillor for Kunkunjang Keitaya also described the donation as timely saying “the machine will ease the hard labour of women in the area.

“I want Gambian women to see Gambia as one, the machine is donated by APRC but not only APRC women are going to benefit from the machine,” she said.

Bintou Sillah, who spoke on behalf of Farato Bojang Kunda expressed gratitude to Ms Jahumpa as she said many communities don’t have the opportunity to benefit from such gesture and therefore assured them the good use of the machine and the useful impact it will have in their community.
