Water Shortage Hits Sukuta Nema-Su

Acute water supply has hit Sukuta Nema-Su for seven months and the residents are calling on the State and philanthropists for help, as they said it has made their lives miserable.

Sainey Touray, who spoke on behalf of the community said:  “t has been over six months now that some households are suffering due to shortage of water.”

She said without water “we cannot survive so water is very important in our lives, because some people wake up early in the morning to fetch water as early as 3pm.”

He however said during former President Jammeh’s regime the community never complain of water shortage.

He added: “but since the new government is installed water becomes a headache, electricity is on and off every minute this is a serious matter.”

Nyima Njie, a student from SOS Senior Secondary School also complained of the shortage water supply as everyone has to wake up deep night to queue for water..

“Without water you cannot go to school and due to that you have to wake up early to look for some water to prepare yourself for school. Students are facing a lot of challenges and government should come up with a solution to our problem in this community.”

Dembo Saidy, also a resident of the community said there is no improvement in terms of water and electricity in his community, “things are getting worst every day and something must be done about it.”
