Gambian artist selected for Intercontinental Art Exhibition

Modou Camara, has been selected and accepted as the only representative of The Gambia for the Intercontinental Online Art Exhibition, event dedicated to the 75th Anniversary of the United Nations.

Modou Camara with over 30 years experience in the trade was a former art teacher who had taught arts at upper basic schools for 20 years and also authored a book titled Rudiments of Drawing. He is also the founder of Art Kunda and as well member and president of Pan African Circle of Artists (PACA) Gambia chapter.

The Intercontinental Online Art Exhibition theme is “United Nations –Symbol of Life, Freedom and Happiness,” a world premiere that brings together 216 artists from all 193 United Nations member countries from 6 continents in one show.

It is a project dedicated to the 75th Anniversary of the United Nations celebrated in 2020. It is organized by The ‘Inter-Art’ Foundation who wishes to bring a tribute to this topic, celebrating this great moment, to prove that through art, “we can bring a better world – one of freedom, coexistence, cooperation and understanding and a world of unity between people, nations, and cultures.”

According to the organizers, two exhibitions will be organized between 2020-2021, one at the United Nations headquarters in New York and the second at the Palais au Nations from Geneva.

Modou Camara has expressed delight over his selection, as only representative of The Gambia for the Intercontinental Online Art Exhibition while disclosed that the work he submitted reflected the theme of the event.

Mama Sallah, Museum Director who is also an artist said his selection for the exhibition “is a big achievement for Gambian artists, Modou Camara and the fine arts sector in general.”
