NAMS extol outgoing Minister of Justice as he bid farewell to house

The National Assembly members have praised Abubacarr Baa Tambadou as he made his final appearance before the house on Monday. Baa Tambadou last week resigned from his ministerial position as he picks up UN job

Speaking before the lawmakers on Monday, Baa Tambadou said: “hopefully my last appearance before you after three and a half years together and I guest partnering is never easy as I had some memorable encounters with almost all of you.”

“Is not been easy at time as some has actual threaten to conduct citizen arrest on me while others have living me incompetent, but that is the joy of democracy and it is a joy for each and every one of us in this assembly fought for many years.”

“I wish to remind this assembly that our country is at crossword, you represent our people here and everything you say or you do it is on behalf of the people of this country. The NAMs are more than anyone out there has a unique responsibility to ensure that there is transparent open and accountable government and they should see the executive as their partner in development, and engage constructively,” he added.

Meanwhile, Fatoumatta Njai, NAM for Banjul South said: “it is an emotional day haven to say good bye but to me it is not good bye but see you later.”

She expressed that she has been one of the hardest NAM to Tambadou but not because she questions his integrity but because she knows that he can take the country where they want to go.

She added that Tambadou came in when he was needed and he had faced lots of criticism. However, “I wish you well and I know where you are going you will continue to serve us and all I can say today is thank you for serving this nation,” she wished him best of luck.
