The Sanno Kunda family of Brufut has in totality disagreed with the statement made by Buba Sanyang – Permanent Secretary at Ministry of Lands, Regional Government and Religions Affairs over the land issue between the Sanno and Bojang families.

The two families, Sanno and Bojang have been in a battle over land they both claimed ownership for the past years.

Meanwhile, it was disclosed during a press conference held by the Ministry of Lands, Regional Government and Religions Affairs that the two families both wrote to the Janneh commission claiming ownership of the CSE land. It was further disclosed that the Commission replied them that the particular land ‘is not a subject to the Commission.’

But speaking to The Voice in an exclusive interview, Yankuba Sanno, from Sanno’s family said they are disagreed and denied what Buba Sanyyang permanent secretary at Ministry of Lands, Regional Government and Religious Affairs said at the press conference, “whatever he has said was total false.”

According to Sanno “we have never got any concession with the Bojang Kunda family for the CSE land and it was only their petition that was read at the Janneh Commission.”
According to him, he wrote the (Sanno Kunda) petition to the Janneh Commission through his lawyer, Edrisa Sisokoh and if there was any claim from the Bojang Kunda, he said, that was after the Commission.

He insisted that “the consultation from the Ministry in returning of CSE land was not transparent after the letter which was from the Ministry written on the 23rd January, was received by them on 8th March. And there is something fussy there and within that period the land was sold by the Bojang kunda.”

“I was assigned by my father to go with the technician from the Ministry of Lands at that time to allocate the land and our agreement was sign that after the project the land have to be returned, they have to return the land which they have done,” he explained.

“Since we are the custodian of the (CSE) land until when the former president Yahya Jmmeh expressed his interest in it. I was arrested and confronted after rumors sparked that I was the one that denied ex-president Jammeh to have the (CSE) land in which my response was negative,” he said.

He lamented that “the Permanent Secretary Buba Sanyang has no right to judge or edits the recommendation of the Janneh Commission since it was established by the Act of Parliament.”
