Commuters complain of double fare

Hundreds of passengers have complained of paying double fare to and fro their home and place of work on daily basis especially in the present situation of covid-19, as it continuing to affect their daily budget.

The Gambia government on 3rd April approved 45 days State of public Emergency whereby schools are closed ban was placed on flight and public gatherings to curb spread of the deadly coronavirus pandemic in the country.

But the stay at home under the State of Public Emergency, as expressed their grievances is with lots of difficulties to thousands of people especially where large per cent of the country’s population are living below the poverty line, while thousands of families live from hand to mouth.

This situation added to complains of commuters who expressed their grievances coupled with difficulties they are facing to put food on table amid of the pandemic.
Sereh Manneh expressed that “We are tired of paying double fare since the inception of this virus it is very hard to get a vehicle to go back home.”

He urged drivers to stick to normal fare and stop breaking the route, a system they adopted in other to cheat passengers “government already reduced fuel prices to ease transportation,’ she lamented.
