2 Gambians confirmed dead of Covid-19 in New York

The Gambian Ambassador to the United State of America Dawda Fadera has confirmed that two Gambian adult females have died in the New York State of America after contracting coronavirus pandemic.

Mr Fadera, in an interview with Paradise TV said the two Gambian adult females have died from the virus as the country is witnessing an increase number in the cases of coronavirus pandemic which has also caused huge number of deaths across the world.

In an interview with The Voice the Spokesperson at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Saikou Ceesay has established the report. He said the two deceased Gambian females were given rightful burial yesterday New York State.

“The report of the two Gambian female immigrants who have died from the Covid-19 pandemic in America is something true and in fact to be accurate this occurred last week. But to inform you again, they have all received their rightful burials yesterday.

He noted further that the Ministry already established their identities “but it has nothing to do with public consumption considering ethical nature of Covid-19. Our prayers as a nation go to their families, relative and love ones,” he said.

Tributes and comments from Gambians on social media have prayed for their souls to rest in peace. Francis Darboe in his Facebook page said: “May there soul rest in perfect peace and May God the Almighty grant them the highest place in Janatul Firdaus,” he stated.

Fabakary Manjang also in his Facebook post said: “May Allah have mercy on them and grant them Janatul Firdaus,” he posted.

The US, according to reports from the World Health Organization has confirmed that since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic in the country over a total recorded number of 23, 640 people have already died from the corona virus pandemic.
