SN Brussels Airline Repatriates Stranded Europeans in Gambia

SN Brussels Flight KF 2202 on Wednesday arrived at Banjul International Airport to repatriate European nationals stranded in the country. The flight arrived in the country following days after the government has announced the suspension of flights from coronavirus pandemic hit countries.

A source who spoke to The Voice said the flight landed at the airport at around 1pm on Wednesday to transport back stranded European citizens in the country, adding that the flight also left the country around 6pm with passengers onboard.

“I cannot confirm whether the flight came with passengers or not but what I can confirm is that the flight left with passengers believed to be stranded European nationals in the country,” the source said.

The source however expressed that: “This came as a big surprise to us working at the airport because Gambia government announced the closure of airspace to flights coming into the country.”
Lamin Dibba, ublic Relations officer of the Gambia Civil Aviation Authority told The Voice that he is not in position to delve into the development as he was not in office last Wednesday.

He however promised to get back once he confirm the story but up to the time of press, there was no response from him.

The airline announced on its Facebook page that its flight will be arriving in the country on Wednesday 25th March, 2020, by 22:00hrs, but was later rescheduled to 1:00hrs local time in Belgium.
