NDMA to distribute buckets, sanitizers in fight against COVID-19

The National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) will today distribute 150 buckets and hand washing tools within the greater Banjul Area in an effort to fight against the deadly coronavirus pandemic.

The Institution will also start sensitizing the public after the distribution across the country and also collect data.

Speaking at the presentation, Sanna Darhaba, Executive Director – NDMA said “In terms of public health emergency like Covid-19 the basic tool that we are providing is to make sure that people adjust their hygiene.”

As humanitarian coordinators, he said it is their primary responsibility to ensure that they give out materials that upgrade the health hygiene in terms of emergency like coronavirus pandemic.
According to him, the tools are meant to fight against the coronavirus as hand washing is a key among the guidelines to protect ones from coronavirus pandemic.

He noted that there is no cure at the moment as all countries worldwide are depending on preventive measure which is the reason why they are providing the hand washing materials to assist people to prevent themselves.

The coronavirus pandemic does not know any political boundaries, cultural values and so on all what we need is how best we can collectively respond to dependable health measure, he added.
He informed the gathering that if there is no healthy population, it will generate great negative impact in on economic, political and social life.

He commended the Government of The Gambia for their support citing that in any disaster Government is the principle bearer.
