WHO Donates Personal Protective Equipment To Ministry Of Health

World Health Organization,  The Gambia Country office last Friday presented Personal Protective Equipment to the Ministry of Health at a ceremony held at the Ministry’s complex in Banjul.

Among the items donated includes Thermometers Infrared, Face Shield, safety box, Glove examination, Gowns, Mask Surgical, Respirator, Google protective, among others.

Dr Desta.A. Tiruneh World Health Organization Country Representation in The Gambia stated that the Cases of Coronavirus is a great concern to the World and cases are registered in the Countries on daily basis noting that the donation of the Personal Protective Equipment is important towards The Gambian’s preparedness to prevent the Coronavirus assess.

He pointed out that in Africa cases has been reported but there is no locally acquired case yet, noting that this stock of Personal Protective equipment donated to the Country is part of their stock that is keep in Ghana.

He strongly assured The Gambia of WHO, s continuous support toward the preparedness to prevent the virus in the Country adding that once the Countries plan to prevent the Coronavirus is Finalized the support will continue.

Dr Tiruneh advised the general Public not to create Panic.

Dr Ahmadou Lamin Samateh Minister of Health described the donation as timely adding that The Gambia will enhance its prevention and preparedness at all levels.

He assured WHO that The Government through the Ministry of Health is doing all its best for the general Public to get accurate and factual information about the coronavirus and it is using all means of communication channels to disseminate information

He advised the general public to always wash their hands with soap and water always and to use hand sanitizers. He assured the donors that the items donated will be judicious put into good use.
