Men accused of unlawful assembly to appear in Mansakonko Court today

Ballo Saidykhan and Famara Jerro Saidykhan who were accused of unlawful assembly will today appear in Mansakonko Magistrates’ Court.

The duo was reported for being the regional chairman and treasurer for the banned Operation Three Years Jotna in Lower River Region. A source said they were allegedly arrested on 1st November 2019 by Kemo Sanneh, Mansakonko Station Officer on the orders of Police Commissioner Kemeta Sambou.

According to the source, the two were released on bail on the same day. The bail bond is D100, 000, each after been charged with ‘unlawful assembly’.

Honorable Jerro Saidykhan, a native of Jarra Kani Kunda, treasurer of Operation 3 Years Jotna is a businessman and Jaduma Ward Councilor, LRR under the ticket of the United Democratic Party (UDP).

Mr. Ballo Saidykhan, is the regional Chairman of Operation 3 Years Jotna. He was an ex-corporal of the Gambia Armed Forces and a member of Victims Centre. Ex-Corporal Saidykhan was a victim of the foiled 11th November, 1994 coup plot in which dozens of officers of the Gambia National Army were murdered in cold blood. He was jailed for years before been released and subsequently dismissed from the army. He is a living witness to the gruesome murder of Lieutenants Basiru Barrow, Abdoulie Dot Fall, Gibril Saye and others.

However, when contacted the Police Spokesperson ASP Lamin Njie, said he could not get details from LRR Police Commissioner Kemeta Sambou due to his engagement in another matter in LRR.

He said he was informed that the matter is with Police Prosecutors but he has to link with them to get more details of the case.
