Association of Insurance Gambia introduces new motorists’ certificate

Insurance Association of The Gambia in partnership with Central Bank of Gambia has introduced a new vehicle insurance certificate aiming to prevent forgery and circulation of fake insurance certificate on motorists.

The ceremony brought together top officials from insurance companies and central bank of the Gambia.

Speaking at the ceremony president of Association Makaireh Badjan said the new introduction document will in ending forgery of  motorist vehicles certificates in the country, adding issuance of certificate insurance is required by the law as an evidence of a valid motor vehicle insurance.

He however called on Gambia Revenue Authority to support the   initiative to ensure only authentic motorist vehicles insurance certificates are not forged.

Saikou Jabbie deputy governor of central bank of Gambia described the new introduction meaningful saying it will also help in scrutinizing to stop forgery.

“As the Gambia issuance of motor vehicle insurance certificate, I prescribed by the law and it must be observed,” he said.

According to him, certificate insurance must be produced by the driver if not contravention of this provision is an offence punishable by the law, adding the new introduction will help greatly in preventing forgery of certificates in the country.
