Livestock farmers in NBR call for support, protection as they hold AGM

Livestock farmers in North Bank Region have called for more support and protection as they ended two days of Annual General Meeting aimed to discuss achievement and challenges on the implementation of 2019.

Speaking on the occasion Ebrima O Jallow President of National Livestock Owners Association has underscored the significance NALOA attaches in empowering regional chapters to conduct their own AGM, noting that its members to critically discuss animals welfare and development.

He thanked Minister of Agriculture and team for their commitment to Livestock and small ruminants’ production.

A representative for Agriculture Minister Isatou Savage thanks NaLOA and NBR regional chapter for their efforts and commitment to Livestock development. She noted that government will continue to support farmers to enhance animal production and contribute food security.

Malamin IL Bojang chairman of Kerewan Area Council assured of council support Livestock and small ruminants sub sector to boost revenue and wellbeing of farmers.

Sarjo Camara Regional Director for Livestock Services NBR said plan are on the way to drill 5 boreholes and standard water drinking points for livestock production and income. He thanks farmers for their support and cooperation during vaccination campaigns. He disclosed that the following cluster communities will benefit from borehole and cattle drinking points in Pakau Njogu, Allen Amdalahi, Minteh Kunda and Njaba Kunda cluster and Banta Su in Sabach Sanjal district and already sites identification were completed.

Alh. Karamo Manneh National Auditor National Livestock Owners Association stressed the need for regional chapter to update their account for audit and noted that improve transparency and accountability and task regional body to have functional bank account.

Ebrima Bah Regional President of Call members to be law abiding and thanks the security forces for their support. He stressed for more support to boost animal production to mitigate food and human security.

Mamat Gaye Senior Field and Marketing Agent GLMA NBR said sales book are available at all selling centre and on members to engage Livestock Assistants on the important of books, noting that revenue generated has provided toilet and water facilities and furniture at Fass Njaga Choi Lumo .

Amie Bah of Sabach Sukoto Fula said the AGM provide platform for women to contribute important as it help women to contribute to development of animals.
