Minister Samateh assesses measures to screen passengers for coronavirus at Banjul airport

Health Minister Dr. Ahmadou Lamin Samateh on Sunday expressed satisfaction with measures in place to screen passengers for coronavirus at Banjul International Airport.

He also thanked the authorities of the Gambia Civil Aviation and the Gambia Immigration Department for their hard work and dedication, collaboration and partnership with the Public Health Office at the Airport in the exercise.

He called for the active participation of all stakeholders and the general public in the fight against the virus entering the country.

Mr. Samateh appealed to the general public not to panic or be alarmed, adding that the Health ministry will always provide credible information from credible sources such as the World Health Organization, West Africa Health Organisation and Africa Centre for Disease Control regarding the virus when it is available.

He said he will visit other points of entry to assess the level of preparedness.
